refurbished cylinders?
Is there anybody trying to reline cylinders? I don't mean sleeves, spray welding or something similar.

Re: refurbished cylinders?
No, it would be to expensive.
Some modern engines with aluminum blocks are coated with nicasil but this is modern technology.
Cylinder repair includes boring, sleeving, replacing.

Re: refurbished cylinders?
I just picked up my 51 Panhead jugs from my machinist. Cost me $300 including pistons and rings. They were at .070 when I got it and my machinist tried to bore them to .080 but they were still wallered out so we decided to sleeve them because all the fins are still there
Keep in mind that stock diameter pistons are a special order and the Hastings rings are listed as 48 to 80 shovelhead.

Re: refurbished cylinders?
That's right. Keep in mind that it was not a cash transaction. Traded a P5 computer and reloaded my machinist's little sister's computer OS. He owed me $300 for the Computer and the reload. I love the Barter System.nmaineron wrote:Mose, you only paid $300 for the sleeve work as well as pistons and rings?

Re: refurbished cylinders?
GUYS REMEMBER you can overbore cyl. to .100 over & still ride everyday!--The use of TOURQUE-PLATES HAS its reasons!-ALSO resleeving is good to!,AS LONG as done CORECTLY!--Remember under magnification there are vallys & inperfections that the naked EYE cant see! I have looked into how LA-SLEEVES does thier work & its the copper filler for the imperfections & heat transfer that makes them very desireable!ALSO-(TOURQUE-PLATES!!!!!)--They been making .100 over pistons along time!-NOW I have never bored a set of import jugs that-much! BUT OEM I have & the bikes ran fine even at a cooler temp!---OEM jugs will go .100 over!-MUST USE -(T-PLATES)----RICHIE
