Solid lifters

#1

Post by lvegas »

Hi I'm Francesco and I've a 50 Panhead..

is normal that I need to adjust my pushrod every 500 km??? every time I take apart the cover the pushrod is too hard to "turn", and is quite impossble to adjust because the registers are hidden inside tappet...... any tips?????
Are there pushrod from Jims for my panhead???

Tks a lot and sorry for my bad english

No, you should not have to readjust every 500 miles. What exactly do you mean when you say the "the registers are hidden inside the tappet."....bosheff

Ok I understand

I think that I don't know the correct procedure to adjust the pushrod... and how many time I need to do this procedure???
probably I did some mistake because the pushrod don't "Keep" the correct tension and the valve don't work correctly I think!!!!!!!

Tks a lot

Francesco!

For clarity I must ask:

Your 1950 machine was produced with self-adjusting "hydraulic lifters" at the top of the pushrods.
Have they been replaced with modern "solid" pushrods?

If the tappet rollers are badly worn,
the adjustment can change constantly.
Do you know the history of the motor's servicing?

Your english is not so bad, the push rod length adjustment should be easy to get to. Not down in the lifter bore, can you load pictures? There is help here, a picture might get folks zeroed in on your problem.
