Thanks, Rod. That unused, tapped hole in your lower tree is a mystery. And my 58-68 catalog differs to your 58-65 catalog re #45700-58A in that mine says #45700-58A fits 58-59 as shown below:

Regarding when #45700-58 started in production, I can't say for sure. And Palmer doesn't give any hints in his FYoF list for 1958 models on page 620.

On page 216 of Classic Harley Big Twins, in relation to the introduction of the Duo-Glide frame Greg Field states: "The stem and top triple tree for both the fixed- and adjustable-rake forks are modified to fit the new frame. These new fork assemblies are used only for 1958 and 1959."

But Field doesn't say what the modifications were or why the parts needed to be modified to fit the new frame. Eric

Here you can see the two different clamps. The Duo-Glide on top with the stem offset in the oblong boss and the Hydra-Glide on the bottom with the stem in the center of the round boss.

Hi, I'm new here, but I'm curious about a thing.
I once have listen rumours about a 2" negative rake tree used on some FL in 60' and 70'.
Does anybody know something about this?

This is my bike front.
I bought this triple tree some years ago in Holland (Ebay), and I was told it's OEM, but now I have many doubts.
On the lower tree you can read "UNIVERSAL 2", and in the upper 56121-60.
It looks to have no rake.
The 2 holes for the headlight bracket, and the small one for the brake line holder have been drilled and tapped by me.
What do you think???

I was afraid to listen these worlds......
The problem is that when you assemple the fork there is a little misalignment between tubes and upper tree holes.
May be the lower and upper trees have different rake.
I'll look for a NOS (OEM) tree...

Depends what swingarm frame.On 69 and later you wouldnt have a neck lock or a padlock mount.So no locking your neck at all.
