Re: timken bearings
The Timken generic numbers for 49-58 bearing are! Drum roll please!
And yes you have to use them or the bolt holes on your tins will not line up with the triple trees. Glenn the numbers you have listed are for 59 and up. This is also the reason there are two differant spot light brackets. Bob L

Re: timken bearings
moose, if you want the correct cups and rollers give mark Blankenship a call, he makes the early cups 49-59. (304)697-1445 after 3pm...If you use the 60 up cups, the tins won't fit right...Mike

Re: timken bearings
You won't get the right parts from any after market supplier, they all sell the 60 up parts...Which will work if you don't care about the bolt holes in the trees lining up with the holes in the tins...

Re: timken bearings
Glenn there generic. Those are Timkens numbers for your bike. You can find them on line or your local bearing supplier. If you have your original cups, just replace the races. If you weld a small bead around the inside of the race , it will shrink and fall out in your hand. earlier and later cups are identical. Only the bore for the race is different. It's the bearing itself that sets the height difference. Glenn, if you're stuck? Bring them up to my shop and I remove the races for ya but I would send them out for new cad before ya press the new race in. You can also just wipe the race with silly-cone before sending them to the platter. Either way, you'll end up with the same result. Bob L

Moose,
Here is the top shield...http://www.ebay.com/itm/220918723662?ss ... 1436.l2648" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
The bottom is still available from Harley...48365-48, but it will be zink instead of cad.

Re: timken bearings
Glenn, if you taking about the sheet metal dust cover. Your bike only had one on the lower tree and it's cad plated. The bearing retainer nut was the upper dust shield as the e-bay refrance above. Start calling Old Dude for this stuff. Clete will send you the right stuff the first time around. If it was cad, thats what you'll get. Bob L
