Shocks

#1

Post by Rain Man »

Anybody know where I can find original style shocks for a '65 FL? Or can my old ones be rebuilt? I've seen alot of the later style with the 2 piece retainers on top, but none of the older kind that you release from the bottom. Ray

Good question Ray!

Beware that '58-'64 shocks were different as well.
(One difference is the number of spanner holes.)

A 're-build' would merely be dis-assembly and re-assembly with a proper shock "absorber" plunger, and perhaps shimming.
So the question becomes: Where are the proper internals available?

I'll bet Bill's Custom of PA sold out of NOS years ago.

Hog54!

If a better ride was the primary concern, wouldn't this be a goldwing forum?

I just never liked how the stock shocks rode and handled.I put progressive shocks and front springs on my lowrider and it made a big difference.Especially in the pothole state I live in.
