Correct Fork Stem (and Bracket) for '64

#1

Post by panhead_kicker »

I am pondering over the 58-68 parts book, trying to determine the part number or numbers to identify a '64 lower triple tree by. The closest I see is 45700-60 "Forkstem and Bracket (for 5 gal tank)".
the next closest would be 45709-60 which is for an adjustable fork.
I guess I expected to see a number for a non-adjustable fork and 3.5 gal tank, but I dont.
Anyone have any insight here?

The correct upper tree will have the rubber/steel isolaters in them for use with a steel riser and 2 piece bars. The lower tree will have a hole bored into the stem for use with a frame neck lock.

Besides the fork lock hole the tree will have a notch in the stops. The 5 gallon style does not have it so the tins/nacelle does not contact the tank.
