I'm looking for some rebound springs for my front end on my 53. Does anyone know if another year would fit mine, or should I just look for aftermarket springs?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rebound springs for a 53 front end
The 53 still had the small diameter fork springs and bottom spacers. The -49 factory springs were available up until a few years ago for about $70.00. Try an H-D dealer and ask him to do a parts search for a set of springs.

Re: Rebound springs for a 53 front end
Thanks for the reply. I’m not looking for stock 53 springs. I’m looking for rebound springs, or at least I think they called that. I’m looking for the new style springs that have separate springs in the forks for rebound. I believe it would also come with a shorter dampner.

Re: Rebound springs for a 53 front end
If you plan to use the OEM style tubes you'll have to stick with the early dampeners, they are held into the bottom of the tubes with a large snap ring. You could go with late tubes and sliders off an electraglide if you must have the top out springs but then your drum brake won't fit.... Mike

Yikes ! I never heard of top out springs, thought you meant fork springs.

I have a set of progressive suspension springs collecting dust if you want them, PM me. VDH-P, I was refering to the late style dampeners that slide down into the tubes with a short "topout spring" inside the bottom of the tube to absorb the clunk at full extension. Mike
