Duo-glide shocks

I am trying to put the shocks together for my 58 pan. and the part that locks into the lower eye has two notches marked A and B, witch is the correct one to use?????

According to Clymers, "A" is for the left hand shock, "B" is for the right. Both letters should face rearward. Probably allows easiest accessibility to adjustment cam.
