Using late model wide glide front end

#1

Post by Roadster_G »

Hello, I am putting my 1959 panhead with 12 over springer back into a stock frame. As far as I can tell from my Palmer book, the frame is 58-62. My question is concerning using a 2005 FXST wide glide front end on this frame. I know that I will have to use touring tubes on it to get it near level.

Does anyone out there have some thoughts on which frame cups and neck bearings I need to use?
Yes, I would like to use an early wide glide, but this is what I have to work with for now.
Thank you

if the 05 used a 1 inch neck, you're good to go,if not,it will take some research to figure it out

Thanks for the reply. It is 1" stem so I did find the 1960-on bearings will fit thru most of 2006. I will try to use the old cups for now.
Things sure have changed since I last owned a panhead, so much Taiwan junk. Paughco no longer makes a lot of stuff I used to use.
Part of the hunt I guess.

thank you

Most likely you have the -60 cups already installed , so there's no issue there , the dust shields retro fit thru 05 .
