Hello,
I need some advice. Is the front end of a 54 (drum brake left) the same as the one on an early shovel? I mean the trees an fork legs. Thanks for your help!
Regards Jan

The angle of the stem fork changed in '58 for the swingarm models. Short answer is No, not exactly the same.

Re: Need some help and advice
Thanks! So I understand that the trees are different because of te angle of the stem. And the fork legs only? Are these the same? Does anybody know the correct part numbers of the trees? Thanks again for your help.

Trees are 45700-48 and 45700-58, tree achanged in 60 and tree tops differ.

Just a note about trees. Don't confuse the numbers cast into trees as part numbers. They are not and can add to confusion. The only way to truly identify trees is by features such as already mentioned stem position, riser types, location of holes drilled, etc. Almost all will work on any application, but only some are correct for those applications.

Re: Need some help and advice
Thanks! But what about the legs? Are they the same as the ones on an early shovel (drum left)?
Re: Need some help and advice
The legs, leg internal parts, and lower sliders are the same 49-68. There are some very small casting differences which don't effect use. I think only the legs are different on the 69-71 models.
