Hi guys, I have a 1956 FLH that I converted to 12 volt about a year ago. I put one of those cheap chrome coils on the bike that looked good but didn't last. Now I'm in the market for a new "good" coil. I have a points setup now but plan on changing to electronic in the future. Any suggestions for a coil? Also, any suggestions for switching to electronic ignition? Thanks.

Re: 12V coil
I got tired of dealing with those lousy coils, both 6V and 12V versions. Vibrated apart in no time. Do the whole conversion at once, a Mallory setup with a Dyna 3 Ohm coil, and you'll be a happy camper. I know everyone says electronics leave you stranded when they fail, but so will a a bad condenser. You can fix points/condenser on the side of the road, if you carry a spare set. Well, I know carry a spare electronic unit in my tool box, hope I never have to find out how well a roadside repair can be accomplished!

Re: 12V coil
Thanks for the advice guys. Anyone use Quickstart 2000 module? I've been reading about them but am not quite convinced. If you have used this, what coil did you use? Thanks
