Can some one id this magneto?

The owner of this magneto doesnt remember what brand it is and the only mark on it is vk with small letters on the bottom.

Can someone tell?

Is fairbanks morse and morris the same brand?

Is one better than the other?

Not the same and you would want the Morris.

Fairbanks-Morse built everything from HUGE industrial engines to scales to magnetoes. Morris builds magnetoes .Note that the mag in the picture has a Fairbanks-Morse head.

Is that good or bad with the fairbanks head and the morris bottom? Cold that give problems with cylinder head and reay boss clearens?

It looks to be just a regular Morris MM74E, if the relay boss is still there it will have to be removed for any mag except the G-5. I've seen a few that have managed to keep the boss and still be able to time it in the small window between push rods/boss.

It is a Fairbanks-Moorse magneto that has an adapter to put in a 1936-1969 H-D Big Twin OHV.
