The only panhead that used a centrifugal (sp) advance timer was a 65. All other years were manual advance. 48-60 used single point, and 61-64 used dual point originally....bosheff

I have a pretty much stock 65 engine. .040 over bore, the heads have been honeyed up a bit, a later oil pump, S U carb, and 28" long straight pipes. Runs very well. I use stock points gap (.020), stock plug gap (.025 to .030), and time it by the book. If everything else is within factory service specs, a pretty much stock pan should run respectable at the above settings. I run H-D 3-4 plugs, standard blue streak points, genuine H-D condensor, and a stock -65 coil. As far as strokers go, I ain't got a clue....bosheff

My 4.5" stroker needed no change of gaps.

And the last '65 that I put 80" wheels into timed by the mark as well!
