6V plug wires

Does anyone have better luck with certain brands of plug wires over others. I was told the Belden solid core wire works better with the 6V system but it seems hard to find. I called NAPA and they have sets for old tractors PN BEL700172 but they say (Low OHM Distributed Resistance Core) which I think is stranded wire but not copper according to the parts counter folks so I might try one of them there kits. Is there a magic wire store somwhere?

I always bought rolls of stranded Belden from NAPA. It was cheaper than buying kits and made lots of wires. Ask if they still sell it by the roll.

I tried that route but they don't seem to carry it anymore. Maybe they just don't have it in my area. I tried several parts stores and they looked like deer in the headlights...............

I've been using the solid core wires that came with my aftermarket coil for decades, along with resistor plugs. I should be easy to find some low resistance RFI wire(the type with a thin conductor wire wound around the core), any junk yard usually has several cars with near new replacement wires

Mark, I gave them a call and they stated they have wires with connectors at both ends but don't have the type of wire that you can screw into a coils.

62wild, have you tryied ebay? I know you can get 7mm & 8mm solid core plug wire on the tractor & farm engine search there, they sell it by the foot. works great on my antique tractors & hit & miss engines. If you still have a hard time finding some pm me. I may have another place. regards, radar

Thanks, I did get some at Antique Cycle Supply here in MI but he stated that Belden wire works best and they don't make it anymore. I think it all comes from the Asian countries now. The coil I am using has the wire screw in at the coil side.

go with radar's advice, check your local farm store.
