Mallory electronic ignition setup: a couple of questions

#1

Post by Smac »

Just finished installing a Mallory electronic ignition setup in my '63 and have a couple of questions.
I have one of those el-cheapo chrome can coils (12V) which is measuring 3.9 ohms on the primary. Should be fine, yes?
Any creative ideas on what to do about those god-awful looking wires and connector coming off of it?
Its bad enough being billet, but that wiring is nasty looking...

Thanks,
Sean

When I used a Mallory I bought some wiring "loom," basically a spiral of black rubber or plastic you can buy at auto parts stores. Wind it around the wires. Or you can use shrink-wrap, I guess. If the connector is just too much to look at all you can do is cut it and solder or butt-connect the wires or something like that. You do what you have to.
I think Mallory specifies a range of 2 to 4 ohms, so 3.9 should work.
Tell us about your bike.
