Hi guys,
Hope all is well with you guys.
Finally I got fire up the engine after adjust timing, I just wonder how it would come out of adjustment.
By the way, anyone knows that what's the exact purpose of 'Eccentric adjust screw' in distributor? It's a pretty loosen. Is it normal?
I'm using single type distributor with 48FL
Regards

No, there's a separate screw to hold the points in position once set. The eccentric screw will always be free to move as it is staked (for a lack of a better term) to the points plate/base.sihyun_kim wrote:Thank you so much Excalibur, so If the screw were lossen, it could be come out of adjustment?Excalibur wrote:It's an aid to help set points gap.

Re: Distributor eccentric adjustment screw
The eccentric adjustment screw just makes it easier to widen or narrow the points gap when the other screw has been loosened. Turning it one direction makes the gap a little smaller, and turning it the other way to make the gap larger. Once you get the points gap set, then you tighten the screw on the fixed point.
If you points slipped out of adjustment, it means that the other screw, the one that holds the fixed point in place, wasn't tight enough. On my panhead, I have an electronic ignition, so no point. On my WL, with points, I picked up a hex head cap screw from my local big-box hardware store (Lowes). Instead of tightening it with a screwdriver, I can use an Allen wrench and get it nice and tight.
