spark advance bracket

#1

Post by 6hds »

My 60 FLH came equipped with a auto advance timer. I am accumulating parts to go manual. There must be a bracket or mount to fasten the cable at the timer? Does anyone have a picture of one so I know what to look for at swap meets or e-bay? Thanks, Gary

Thanks for the picture. Not having seen one, this must mount to the underside of the timer?

Bracket mounts to the case, with relay on top it. Pretty sure it uses 1/4-24 screws.

You will also need a clip for the cable, 56625-36, and a screw to hold it down.

Gary,
Here is a link to some good pictures of the complete assembly -

You can see how the timer control coil and wire are held so that the control wire enters the timer adjusting screw at the correct angle. The hole in the timer adjusting screw that control wire passes through (and is in turn held with a set-screw) is drilled at sort of a weird angle, so it's important to have the end of the control coil clamped in the right place so every thing works nice and smooth, and doesn't put any undue stress or wear on the parts.

On a "60 doesn't the cable mounting bracket also hold the horn?
