Great site with great info... Can anyone suggest a coil and spark plug wires to go with this electronic ignition ? I emailed ebeyond2000 twice with no responce. Kind of makes me hesitant about giving them my visa number to order one. It seems to be the best one out there after reading the info on them. I left my ignition on overnight and fried my coil. I figured I would do the upgrade and change the whole system. Thanks for the replies, Beau

It is ,as I understand,simmilar to the hall effect breaker used in seventies chevys. I would guess the power runs right thru it to the coil if the ign. is left on. Mike

I installed one in my 56 last summer. You do need to provide 12V from the ign. switch to the module inside the timer. I didn't even need to reset my timing when finished. No more setting points.......Yeah

But the way, No special coil is required for the unit. -Steve

I installed the unit supplied by 45 Parts Depot about a year ago. Easy to install (no timer removal) and it works great; easier starts, good performance, and no points to set or condenser to wonder about.

The consensus of opinion is you should use a coil with about 3 ohms, the carbon filled plug wires (I got mine at NAPA), and resistor plugs to get the best out of the system.

I’m sure it doesn’t turn itself off however.

I just installed the unit on my bike. The coil recommended is 3 - 4.7 Ohm per the owner of ebeyond2000. Anything over 4.7 will burn our the the ebeyond2000 unit over time.

I run a Dynatek Dyna-Mite DC6-1 Coil 3.0 ohm with resistor wires and AC plugs.

I wasn't aware there was a prefered coil for the ebeyond. Is there a method to determine what ohm output my coil is producing....? -Steve

Ohio-Rider, I thought the purpose of the ebyond was to add modern day components while maintaning a stock-like appearance. So..it won't allow you to run a 6 volt? and you have to change out your coil as well?

I ordered my ebeyond 2000 today. I couldn't get an answer because his shop was closed until mid March. I talked to Ed today, very helpful and a nice guy to deal with. Thanks for the responses, Beau

panz4ever, I beleive the ebeyond works with either 6 or 12 volt..Mike
