Morris Magneto coil (are they Brothers!!! )

#1

Post by scav-pan »

Hi All
Just wondering if you know anything about Morris Magneto's, Richie has explained a few things to me and has been a great source of info but I was wondering if the Morris Mag coil for a WLA Flathead/ Ironhead Sportster would be the same as a Panhead etc, and if not, why not ! I can get a new coil in UK for a Sportster but not for Panhead, that's why I am asking the question.

All the magneto coils interchange. Originally Fairbanks Morse only made magnetos for Sportsters, so if you are looking at original applications they will only list Sportsters and KR/XR racers. Joe Hunt, Morris, as well as others took that design and adapted drives for other applications, however the internal parts on fixed advance mags are all interchangeable.
