staggered duals

Looking to put staggered duals on my 58. Any suggestions or warnings? Looking at Pauchco
close fit for corning clearance but have read some Pauchcos don't really fit that well. Also a little worried with heat by how close they fit to the boards. Anyone using them or have past experience with them. Thanks. papa

Any exhaust setup that doesn't run a squash pipe in the front is likely to have clearance problems in a right hand turn unless you lenghten the front forks to compensate. That is why H-D ran the S pipe until the 70 model year on BT's....bosheff

I run the staggered duals from Santee, I have forward controls, no floorboards.

The only thing I had to modify was that I had to purposely "dent" the rear pipe where it wraps around the kicker for clearance of the kicker cover nuts.

Other than that, and the underneath clearance of the front pipe being close to the ground as mentioned above, I am happy with them.

Also, you need to support both pipes at the rear with a bracket, otherwise they will tear up your exhaust spiggots due to vibration and falling off, no matter how tight you clamp it! (Can't tell you how many I have dropped over the years before installing an additional bracket).

Maybe Paugho pipes will clear a bit better.

I am running a set of Paucho 34" drag pipes with forward controls....both pipes fit like gloves....nice snug fit on the exhaust spiggots.....clear the tranny real nice and there is plenty of ground clearance in right hand turns. The only problem is I can"t run foot boards with them.....the front pipe is too close to the frame mounting tab....needs squash pipe!

Thank You for all for the information. Didn't want to run squash pipe and wanted to keep boards.
Guess I'll have to make a choice. D**n I hate doing that!

plenty of room on my 64. i got the set from jp for 100 odd bucks 7 years ago. probly still sell em but for a bit more.
