Exhaust Clamps

#1

Post by panz4ever »

Still piecing my 49El back together. Anyone have a pic of how the front exhaust clamps go together. One goes to to frame, the other to the front pipe. Trying to determine where on the right front downtube (appears that it goes above the sidecar loop but how far up?). Seems the clamps will go together a couple of different ways.

Other question is how/where the clamp goes that connects the rear of the Y-pipe and muffler. Weird shaped piece with 2 bolt holes. One keeps the pipes together but trying to figure out where/how the other connects to the frame.

Cannot find any pics of either of these. Just pics of pipes with flex covers on them. Just trying to avoid scratching frame and freshly painted pipes. Figure once you start clamping things down marks are gonna be left.

I can;t tell from the photos where you ended up putting the clamp on the frame.

Are the 2 photos actually of the same installation?

In the first one, it looks like the clamps are on the downtubes, but the 2nd photo looks like they are down on the horizontal portion of the frame.

Andy,
See the bolt in the second picture? It is the forward brake plate mounting bolt. See the motor mount in the frame? The clamp is above it. It is all in the picture.
