True Dual exhaust

#1

Post by 62wild1 »

I'm looking for a true dual setup for my 62. Is anyone running a system like that? I know the factory had a crossover but I want a little more sound and I like the looks of the dual mufflers. I have heard some say there are certain manufacturers that don't fit well or the quality is not there.

I am running 2 bikes with true duals and really like them better than the crossover set up. I am no help on what fits. I bought one off E-bay and the other came from a friend's box of blemishes. The blemished pipe needed major rework to install. I Installed some slip on fishtails on the end of Cigar mufflers and they sound great.

This set on my '61 is from Paughco, fit was not perfect but I got them on there. I replaced the Samson fishtails in the picture with cigar mufflers. The fishtails are rather loud, and they are getting whiny in my area about noisy pipes. If you get the duals and you're interested, I could let you have the set of fishtail mufflers and brackets (which mount to the stock muffler support tubes) for a good price.

RussW,

I would be interested in the mufflers as it will be either cigars with fishtails or what you have. I'll send you a PM.

Can you guys post a pic of your bikes with the cigars and fishtails? I believe there are 2 sizes of cigar mufflers.

You are right. Smaller ones for dual setups and a larger one for the stock two-into-one.

fishtails look much better than they sound, everyone wants a set until they get one and ride the bike any distance. In my opinion they are better suited for wall art than mounted on a bike that gets ridden.

just my opinion, but I'd go with the cigars, the bike will actually sound like a motorcycle.
