I bought a complete set of exhaust/muffler clamps ,but have a question regarding 4 of them .The top 2 in the photo are much heavier than the bottom 2 .Also the top ones in the pics would have to be streched a little to get them around the cylinder ports(but Clymer shows ones like them in his book) It seems to me the ones lower in the picture would go on the cylinder exhaust ports but by the time I tighten them there isnt much room for more tightning,as the ends almost touch.
Tis is for a 59 pan.
Where do these exhaust clamps go ??

Here's the front exhaust lower clamps I posted (Plumber) on the FHP site a while back. They install at the bottom of the frame on the front header. Your top clamps may be for the '58-64 frame. The rigid frame set of clamps don't have that lip on the ends.

and then a little on header clamp pre-compression:
Wear Safety Goggles - Holds the clamp so you can run a nut up to tighten it, pre-squeezing it, then install the lock washer later. The header clamps almost always close up completely on any I've ever installed on two different Panheads. Just tighten them up until it stops. I always like to be able to move my headers just a tiny bit, so I know the exh. spigots are over-compressed.
Cut 4-slots in the header. 2 slots don;t allow the header bell to compress.
There's some pics of the lower front header support brackets installed, but I can't find it here. I think it's under the Panheads heading, but you might be able to search it out.
