Custom Exhaust Builder?

#1

Post by foundationapps »

Hi all, during my rebuild of the 48 Pan, and per agreement with the sweet wife to put suspension in the setup, I'm using a Kraft Tech frame, got a good deal to use a 180 wide rear tire. The offset in the frame engine mounts... 1" to the left side, means I need special exhaust pipes to compensate for that offset.

I know this is no new setup, who is a good exhaust system builder, (simple short drag pipes with short babbles (maybe)).

Sorry if this is not traditional old bike setup, my hard tail frame went to a good man. Time to use a suspension bike.

I'd take what exhaust parts and bike you have to a welding shop and have them cut and tack you up a couple pipes. This past summer I stopped in a local bike repair shop in Idaho Falls and talked to a couple good ole boys that would be able to do the job. I have their card at home if your near there. Its getting cold here in Maryland today but I know what you mean about that Idaho Cold!

A buddy of mine has a muffler shop. He bent up a couple of sets of pipes for me. One a set of drag pipes for a early shovelhead swing arm frame. Welded on exhaust flanges and brackets. One set of upsweeps for a shovel rigid frame. Not everyone has a bro with a muffler shop. Bends not as clean as store bought. But, Really couldn't tell. Not bad. Maybe you can find a local muffler shop that will work with you.

Hey, that's a great idea. Being in SE Idaho, there are tons of ghetto muffler guys around here.
