P_K!
If you have found a strange combination, it seems there were loose halves available when the one-piece 65465-65 was introduced, that were formed to accept a weld.
I presume they were for sidecar applications.

I have an S-pipe that is male on the outlet. Riveted through for the mounting bracket. Does not appear to be cut. When I saw a y-pipe with a receiving bell, then I began to wonder. In reguard to sidecar use, are you aware of any specific differences to exhaust required? I understand that the front header may require a depression to accomadate the sidecar crossmember. In addition, I've seen the Fiberglass saddle bag (right) notched on the botton to possibly allow for a sidecar?

A two-piece S and Y assembly can be removed and re-installed without removing the sidecar.

Re: Y-pipe to s-pipe fit
On a factory '69 the S and Y pipe are one piece, no connection. I would bet that yours was cut of right in front of where the Y would be, most likely to run true independent duals. It wasn't made that way by H-D!

Robbie!
Unwelded halves of the -65 assembly exist in the wild.
How they made their escape from the factory, we may never know.

Re: Y-pipe to s-pipe fit
Does that mean this S pipe on my 65 with a male end is not stock? I have always thought it was.

Yup, thats the setup I was asking about. I've got the s-pipe ( a y-pipe with bell just went on eBay.)Underdoggie wrote:Does that mean this S pipe on my 65 with a male end is not stock? I have always thought it was.

Re: Y-pipe to s-pipe fit
So far I am finding the -36 S pipe for up to '64 with a NEW number for '65. However a couple years later the NEW number is gone and fitment shows late '65 up on some of the components, leading me to think there might have been a short lived different piece. The research continues!!
