Post by woodie »

I,m havin problems with my carb flooding. Gas runs out the overflow tube. When I took it apart expecting to find crap or a bad needle valve it looks like the floats arent floating. seem to sort of sink in the float bowl. they are foam floats not brass which I have had leak, but I never had this problem before. Any ideas or sorce for new floats?

Although I machine vintage floats, I have never been asked for S&S units, as they are not known to "gas-log". I assumed they are made of the same fuel-proof material as mine anyway, as it is also used by nearly every major automobile company.

How old is your S&S?

New floats should be readily available from any S&S dealer, but you might get some more miles out of yours by gently drying them out with a heatlamp. If you have a gram scale handy, please weigh them before and after to determine if fuel was actually soaked in.
It would be very disappointing if it did.
