I need the "27376-28 Gasket,bowl locknut" its the gasket that goes underneath the float bowl and is between the float bowl and locknut ? Can I substitute something else ? I dont know if its copper or some kind of fiber or what.. BTW trhis is on a M-74 Linkert

Are you talking about the copper crush washer between the bowl and bowl nut?

Rolled copper crushwashers are also available from your local JAMES Gaskets dealer.
Seals of this design benefit if the lip of the bowl is machined clean of blemishes, and square to the top. Otherwise, re-use, which may be necessary someday on the side of the road, is compromised.
Substitution is only necessary if there is such erosion around the hole that a wider appliance is required. And occasionally a thinner seal is needed when bowlstem threads have been damaged.
Linkert's predecessor Schebler used a red fiber washer similar to drain and floatvalve gaskets,
but today, more modern materials are available.
