rubber Tipped Linkert Needles
Just a quick tip, I had nothing but a common repop rubber tipped needle on hand yesterday, and simply pulled the tip out, measured the hole and made a small piece of Brass to PRESS in. Then I put it into the Lathe and turned it into a BRASS TIP! (finish with emery cloth for a SMOOTH surface!) With the ready availability of the JUNK Rubber Tipped needles and the Scarcity of the Good ones I think this is a decent solution. PS on this one a .154 shank was a nice tight press fit.

Indianut!
I always planned to cut some PEEK tips,
but since the Motor and Chassis Manager left on indefinite sabbatical (the last was thirteen years I think), and The NightShift retired again,
there just hasn't been enough Sundays.
I also considered the weight pros and cons of cutting the whole needle from PEEK, particularly for post'50 round-needle seats.
