Bike will not run with its original linkert

#1

Post by nyguy99 »

Two days ago my 55 pan, with its original linkert carb just up and stopped running. It'll start and run, as long as the choke is all the way on. So today, I got some carb cleaner, and a comfortable seat and disassembled the whole friggin thing, jets,rods, everything. Put it back on the bike, and damn, still the same thing. Anyone know what I overlooked?

Mike!

Carbs do not often change suddenly, but manifolds can. O-rings are cursed by extremely digestive modern fuel blends.
Please eliminate this possibility by pressuretesting with soapy water: http://virtualindian.org/11techleaktest.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Let us know what you find,

well, I got her running again,,,, I pressure tested the intake manifold and o rings, sprayed starting fluid over all the possable leak sites while the bike was running at 1/2 choke and it didn't improve. hmmm I said not much sign of a manifold leaks. So I checked around and I'll have to blame ahh fuel Deprecation?

NYguy99!

We are all glad you did not set yourself and the machine on fire. The link I posted illustrates that pressuretesting has nothing to do with flammables. It includes an emphatic warning against it!
You have not eliminated the possibility of leaks, only the probability of huge ones.
