I still own vintage tractors, cars, boats, etc. and they have brass floats too.

The brass float weighs more than the synthetic one, causing problems.

Every brass float made for a Linkert is aftermarket, Linkert never used one. All are too heavy, all are susceptible to modern fuels attacking them causing pinholes and failure. Some are so big that they dramatically reduce the fuel volume in the bowl. Most current ones are made in India of poor quality materials. Why use one when better alternatives exist?

Good information! I did not know there was known issues with them in Linkerts.. That was the entire reason for my original post (known issues) as I do understand carbs and fuel valves in general. I'm on board now, not going to use the either! Thanks

Tom Cotten is where I have gotten the ones that I use.

Liberty Motorcycle Specialties

Or Kurt at Flatland:

Or search "Rubber Ducky" carb float on Google

I have bought a couple of floats from Cotten. He has a guarantee that if if they swell up or are otherwise damaged by the gas, he'll replace them for free if you return the old one to him and let him know what type of gas you were using.

This is the kit I used, and the float. Seems ok-price was right... Not the quality of parts shown above. Next time!

I only use Cottons floats, they work great, and a nice guy, you may have to get one from a existing customer, but shoot him a e-mail a see.Liberty@npoint.net
