V-Twin Linkert Intake Manifold Kit

#1

Post by kickstartworker »

We inspected the Linkert manifold from VTwin, and found that the carb flange was warped, preventing the carb base from seating properly onto the manifold.
The carb mounting flange had to be surface ground 0,8mm to obtain the necessary flatness.

We also found that both o-ring flanges on the manifold (the surface where the clamp sits) were approximately 1.5mm larger than the spigots on the cylinder heads and that they were out-of-round compared to the o-ring seats.
It was impossible to get an air-tight seal between the manifold and cyl head.
That problem was solved by mounting the manifold on the lathe (centered according to the o-ring seats) then turning the flanges down to match the spigots.

Based on our experience, this is definitely not a plug and play part

Shit, always was. What bugs me is it wouldn't have taken much to get it right in the first place. Why by this manifold when there are a zillion oem out there to be had Aluminum or cast iron. Bob L
