Hello All,
Having trouble with the linkert m47b on a 1965 FLH Pan. Problem is very intermittent cutting out, the engine dies and it restarts just fine. The engine is timed correctly, points adjusted, intake checked for air leaks thoroughly and more than once. I have a DURABLE float installed at 1/4'' to the spec from Cotten, along with a new pivot nut. I am pretty sure I have it narrowed down to the float hanging up in the bowl every once in a while. I cant seem to offset it to the left like the spec says. The lever which I replaced due to extreme wear on the fingers does not have the same bend in it as the old one, and it looks like the needle cannot travel as deep into the fingers. The old lever, float, and pivot nut in the picture on the left. New stuff on the right. Anyone know where to get a good quality float lever?

Max---Bending it is fine,I agree with everyone!.Just remember to make any bends ALL Straight so when the pin screws are tightened The pin bering is straight & works freely.----Respectfully---Richie

Max D, can't tell from the pictures, but if the needle you are using has a rubber tip that could be your problem. I had one in my '65 and because of today's fuels the rubber distorted and actually separated from the needle...sometimes getting stuck in the seat and sometimes not. It was doing exactly what you described. Replaced it with a stainless one and solved the problem.
