Jubilee Horn

After sitting idle for a few decades, the Jubilee horn on my 57 goes blaaaatt instead of BEEEEEEP. I have followed the tune up instructions in the service manual
but no luck. First question, is there any hope for the horn? Second question, has anybody had any luck with the repop powerpack from J&P?

Is the battery fully charged?

Use a fully charged battery, turn the horn adjuster until
you get the sound you want while pushing the button.
Make sure your getting correct voltage and good ground to horn.
Voltage drop can change the sound, check power and ground first.

Stop with this J&P Cycle crap! They sell shit! Work with the original stuff you have. For the most part, the factory built it bullet proof. First off, you say the beast has been sitting for a long time. Insects love to build nests in long round tubes. Just cause the screen is there, don't mean squat. Did ya remove the trumpet and make shore it has a clear passage way? Next, if it is the power pack? Pack it up and send it to Charlie Shaver (The Horn Man) 417-394-2788. He did one of my springer horns recently and charged me $40 clams and did a wonderful job. Bob L

I am not using a battery, I am using a 6 volt battery charger/power supply, works fine for testing headlights etc. Adjusted for tone according to the book, the same method worked great back when. I removed the trumpet from the power pack and squirted some solvent in the cavity, blew it out and shook out the debris. Sounded the same before and after. if it sounds like I have done all I can, I will send it to the "horn man". Thanks for the help.

A charger/power supply will not provide enough amperage to make the horn work correctly. On lights it is fine since it is just completing a circuit and letting you know they light, even if at a dimmer than normal mode. The horn needs juice, use a fully charged battery!

+1 on what Robbie said. I tried using a battery charger to test my signal lights - not enough juice to run the blinker properly.

Called Charlie the horn man at hornsrus,(thanks for the phone #) he confirmed the need to use a fully charged battery not a charger. I'm keeping my fingers crossed cause he said he has not any luck with a jubilee horn. He seemed to think if worked before without failing, it's probably still good.

Just as a point of interest, I've been running my original 6 volt power pack on a 12v system for about 4 years now. Hasn't blown it out, and it is REAL LOUD!
