Re: trans or clutch
After 10+ clutch adjustments, 15+ mouse trap adjustments, praying, swearing, and depression, I gave up on the 3 stub design and dropped in a Primo Rivera diaphragm clutch for my '58 panhead. It is the smartest upgrade I have made on the old lady.
Easy clutch pull, absolutely no gear crashing, and I can find neutral with the bike running (or not). It really is a different beast and an absolute pleasure to ride.
Primo clutch $400
Installation tool $17
Biggest darn smile on my face while riding *priceless*

Re: trans or clutch
One of the first things I did in '95 when I got mine was get a 5-finger hub...LOTS easier to keep it smooth
(big deal with a foot clutch)
