Well, guess what? Here is a chance for this forum to show up the AMCA forum!
I have had no definitive answers over there, so maybe someone here knows. In defense of that site, I do know more than I did and I am apprciative of it. But I still don't have everything I need.
Here it is:
There are three headlamps originally equipped from '49 - '64.
#67717-48, #67717-48A and #67717-48B
From the attached bulb chart from the service manual the -48B is definitely '60 - '64 only, and Palmers book says that is true also.
Palmers book doesn't even mention a -48A, but the attached chart sez it is correct for at least the '59 and at least I know it did exist.
The -48? Thru the years it was replaced by the -48A, then the -48B in the manuals.
BUT THAT ISN'T THE QUESTION!
I have actually seen bulbs that have CYCLE BEAM or CYCLE 3 BEAM written on the glass lense. Does ANYBODY know which bulb carries which part number? The -48B for the '60 - '64 is the T-3 version so it is a no brainer.
Come on, guys. SOMEONE has to know or remember. I'm 54 so I wasn't riding and working on them then. Birthday bike!!!
Thanks,
Wayne

Re: Hydra Glide headlamp riddle
Wayne,
I have seen a 59 advertisement showing the new T-3 bulb.....the 48-A. The T-3....48-B I think is
the same bulb with LOWER watts for high and low beams. As the chart shows.
