turn signal flasher

I am putting turn signals on and with the help from knowledge base have them set-up pretty well other than my 6 volt flasher that has an extra terminal. the documention has an L terminal and an x terminal mine also has a p terminal .my thought is to insulate it but i am unsure if it should run to a frame ground.any help on this would be appreciated. thanks,Chuck

The 3-prong flashers had an "X" (power in), "L" (load), and "P" (pilot). I wouldn't ground the "P" terminal, either insulate it or hook it to an indicator lamp. Or, if you are not going to install an indicator lamp in your circuit, I would try to find a flasher with only 2 terminals.

thanks Flathead six; I was unsure about that extra terminal and did not want to fry-it. for now i will try adding a pilot then look for the correct flasher. thanks again ,
