7608 Fork Terminal Plate Nuts

#1

Post by VintageTwin »

8-32x3/32x5/16". The 7608 called out in the parts books are 8-32x1/8x5/16". The difference in the OEM ones I have from a '49 fork terminal plate is that the nuts are flat bare metal (for electrical contact surface), and the other side of the nut is cad plated and faced. Having the nuts with one face removed allows the two nuts to be stacked on the terminal post to hold various wires, but still allows the end of the screw to protude a thread or two beyond the top nut.
Using 1/8 thick nuts makes the top nut barely threaded on to the 5/8 (shank) hex head screw.
1. Raw metal side of the nut on the left, faced side on the right.
2. In order of assembly:
? #3491, 8-32x5/8, hex head screw
? External star washer
? Fiber terminal board (represented by tape strip)
? #6182, (thin) plain steel washer
? Screw insulator (thick plain steel) 71098-38
? #6182, plain steel washer
? #7608, 8-32x3/32x5/16 cad., faced/ plain steel nut
? #7608, 8-32x3/32x5/16 cad., faced/ plain steel nut
and:
? 10-32x5/8, filister head screw, fork terminal plate mount screw (2)
