I like the low 6V glow of the dash lights on a pitch-dark night. I ran without light shields for 20 yrs., and got use to the lamp lights bleeding into each other, but no more. Note the (black-woven) 6" lead going from the #5 (switch) to the # 6 dash. I tied the wires together with (poly) "buttonhole" thread to keep them from being hammered by the edge of the shield (with the cover taken on and off).

[Note: The V-Twin wiring harnesses are exceptional. The lengths are cut correctly. If you have to change-out a flag terminal for an eyelet terminal, you haven't cut yourself short of wire. You can pull wire from both directions through the conduit. It was a pleasure working with this product.
My only change-up to their wiring was their 10" (black, woven fabric) lead between the #5 (switch) terminal to #6 dash terminal. I cut mine back to 6" as the extra 4" wasn't needed.
Center Mounting Stud Adjustment

The mounting stud with a 5/8 flecloc nut doesn't ship with the stock eared-lock washer. Tighten the flexloc nut, backing the nut up with a 1/2" wrench on the hex mount stud above.. When the nut bottoms, it will want to start turning. Leave it there.

Then when it comes time to align the center screw with the stud, you can turn the 5/8 nut nut C.W. with a swivel socket in increments, and the stud will "cam lobe turn" to perfect alignment.
[Note: The (exact dim.) 6466 dash cover center-screw (7/16" hole) washer is available (cad.) from Kick-Start M/C Parts. # 2137. They'll put one in an envelope and send it to you priority mail.]

Thanks Mike, it's what we do here, but you already know that
Tomorrow....it's the "A" conduit wires from dash to terminal box. Then, terminal box to tail light and brake switch. After that it's the terminal box to voltage regulator and the "F" wire to the generator and that should do it for wiring.
Beyond that, I have to re-work the oil filter bracket to make it conform to my wishes. The questions is: Can the rigid oil filter bracket take the heat....and bend....or will it snap like a cheap die-stamped hardware bolt (that now days won't even hold a re-threading without crumbling).
