Electrical, Terminal Plate

#1

Post by Pan58 »

Terminal Plate at the tripple tree:
any body an idea what's original on a 1958 FLH: 10 Terminal Posts or 13 Terminal Posts?
Looks like there are two different types with the same OEM#, depending on the year. If any body has an original 1958 Pan?

Thanks for looking and answer

I scored a nos 72301-49 for my 58 project.
It actually has 14 terminal holes. I'm running spots and turn signals, so ended up using all but 2 holes. One was used to secure the housing clip for the signal flasher. Ive got it all figured out, so if you have any specific issues I'd be happy to help. Feel free to shoot a PM.

The factory shows ten terminals through '58, 13 from '59 up in their wiring diagrams.

I asked, because in the old Palmer book P431/432 he writes "The second terminal plate #72301-49 type 2 used on 1958-1969 models has 13 terminal posts..." and in the new Vol One on P622 and P624 the description is about the same. The picture on P625 (new book) shows both types of plates. But the description says 10-hole version 1949-1959 and the 13-hole version 1960-1969.
Thats why I wonder, which one is correct?

PAN58----Palmers is a GOOD GUIDE to go by!--But there are some things that dont jive with whats really there on a OEM supposed bike!.Looking at my 58 parts that I striped 25yrs. ago/RUBONE described exactly what I have!-(I know the parts are correct ,as my POP rode me home on the tanks & MOM in tow!)---All book guides are subjective to some discrepensies!/However Palmers is the BEST!/But not all is correct!/& the mistakes are very few!---Respectfully---RICHIE
