50 pan, 12V, kickstart

#1

Post by shovpan »

What battery do I use for my pan with kick start only? I searched the knowledge base and only got more confused. The stock oil tank location measures roughly 3.75x4.75x6.0. The batts I found doing a search seem to be for the electric start bikes. The local parts store shudders when I walk thru there door. Manufacturer name and model number? Thanks.

YOU can get 1 of those jap 12V batts that you have to change out every 10 months, they cost $19.99 at a autozone!& it will fit!,--I recently tried a new BATT. called AGM-(absorbed glass mat)--they are sealed & can be run anyway you want!-I have mine on its side neg. pole down it has 340cca-12V & I run a huge halogen bulb up front & have no dimming problems, ITS as bright as I ever saw it going threw the throw-aways! They are not cheap & def. do not buy from a cycle-shop! Mine was $100 even & even at hi-beam for a half hour When I get home IT has 12.85 Volts constant!--I got mine from Autozone!----RICHIE

BE Careful with the Above Number. I Just Bought a Yuasa 12V Battery 12N5.5-3B YUAM2255B and it measures H 5 5/16 x W 2 3/8 x L 5 1/8. In my opinion this is Screwed Up. The 5 1/8" length will Not go in to a H2 battery hole (H2 Length 4.4 x Width 3.9")

The same (Yusa) number also is Length 4.06 inch x Width 3.56 inch x Height 4.5 inch (This Is The One That Will Work So Be Careful!)

There's a couple more that will also work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-NB50-NQ50 ... 2c6550ce39 Just stand it on the end.

If that's Geoff Erdo's,
and if its his Richardson reproduction, he patterned it directly from an original I found in an alley about four blocks from home.

Personally,
I use the "extention boxes" available from Tedd, and other suppliers, to house Interstate 12n5.5a-3B batteries, because the ease of returns when I get a bad one.

No matter what battery you choose, Folks,...

Please remember that a failing battery can overtax an armature quickly.
Waiting for a battery to fail is risky.

I choose the 12n5.5a-3B variety because they are cheap and easy to replace each spring.

Anybody notice how most batteries are always older than you remembered them to be?
(Especially with autos.)
I proved it by engraving dates into every battery I filled.
"It can't be that old...already..." they said.

You gotta' look at the numbers carefully:

12N5.5-3B is NOT the same as 12N5.5A-3B.

what is it you are getting for your $250-350?

Interesting how they will sell me a 12V battery for a 1952 Softail or a 1952 "CVO FXD Dyna/Bob"

You are paying twice the amount for what I have had for 6 years. No thanks

Are they made in China? Japan is the way to go for my dollars; YUASA!
