Oil consumption
O.K. just finished the top end. Ran the bike about 50 miles. Realized I was running way too rich. changed the oil, adjusted the carb. Put on 200 miles. Checked the oil. None. The obvious answer- I washed the cylinders in the first 50 miles. Any other ideas? Ray

Re: Oil consumption
Wow, that much oil in 200 miles? It had to be either smoking real bad oil blowing it out on the road. When you say "none" do you actually mean none or just low in the tank. I don't think the plugs would still fire with that much oil going through the rings. No signs of blowing out?

Re: Oil consumption
I agree if you used that much oil the plugs should have fouled, rich carb. condition would be a long shot to wash the cylinders that bad. I would look and see if there is oil in the intake manifold, heads not sealing around the oil return holes and being sucked into the manifold?

Re: Oil consumption
the oil tank had about an inch at the bottom. maybe less. the strange part is no leak, and hardly noticed any smoke. If it was blowing into the cylinder or exhaust, I should have a cloud following me around. Not so. If I rap the thottle up she'll smoke (mostly grey) but nowhere near what it should be for the amount of oil I'm useing. I pulled the plugs, their a darker than I like, but a far cry from fouled. So far this ones got me stumped. Ray

Re: Oil consumption
are you sure you are not sumped instead of stumped?
would be interesting if you pulled the crank drain and the missing oil ran out...

Re: Oil consumption
Rain Man, you got an ex-wife/girlfriend pissed at you. How about a neighbor that doesn't like bikes. Seems like if someone is into thieving, they are doing it hoping you will munch the engine when you are running on zero oil
