63 panhead question, again.
Hey, guys! Couple of questions. First, is the throttle supposed to have a spring, or is it stationary? Second, did the original seat have a steel or plastic bottom?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Music,
1. The '63s did not have a return spring on the throttle, it was a "dead man" with a solid single wire cable that connected the twist-grip to the Linkert, throttle position would stay at any position you put it until you twisted the grip.
2. The seat pans were a solid piece of stamped steel with a bunch of vent holes punched in them.

Factory throttles have solid wire inners and no springs! Plastic?? What is plastic? Panheads are made of iron, steel, rubber and leather!

Robbie!
Don't look now, but Bakelite is a 'plastic'.
And tailamp red lenses after '55 were not glass.
The dash lenses seem to be plastic, too.
And don't forget those '57-'58 tank badges and front fender trim.
Isn't vinyl a plastic?
How about cellulose acetate windshields?

Thank you Cotten,
But I can't believe you did not point out the lack of glass, wood, petroleum products (other than plastic of course),cotton, horsehairl,or any other materials I failed to mention.
But Panheads never had plastic seat bases, the point I was making. Sorry to offend you with my lack of tact and obviously limited knowledge!

Robbie!
I'm just very fond of Bakelite.
By the way, what is "Royalite"?
Wood is a hard one to find on a Pan!
Off-hand, only the sidecar seat comes to mind.

Re: 63 panhead question, again.
After further inspection, it seems as though my seat is metal underneath!
New question, how long did it take you guys to get used to the throttle? I go from 5 to 60 in two seconds. I am having a problem with pulling too much or not enough.... Really jumpy. Lol. Thanks, for all of the input. Yes, the tail light lens is plastic. I have, so far not seen any " made in china" anywhere.
