carburator for 61" panhead?

I want to buy a new carburator for my 61", but I'm not sure which one will be the best one. It's currently running a S&S super E, which think is a bit large for the 61", and since the bike is not keep in its original condition, an original carburator is not appropriate.
So which aftermarket Carburator is the best choice?

What about the original Harley CV? I have one of those laying around?

By all means, the original carb would be your best investment, but I don't believe it was a Keihin.

Cotten, I don;t see were they have anything that would fit a 'cycle that doesn;t already have fuel injection. Am I missing it?

By the way, whatever happened to Lectrons?
They were all the rage in 1974!

I think lectrons,Posa fuels and (if you are old enough)the Wal Phillips "injectors" are in the same place,hopefully never to return! The Keihein CV will work very well on your engine but you will need to make up an adaptor.I think I would start with the 4 bolt Linkert to a 38mm round slide Mikuni adaptor. It can be had from V twin and J&P cycle among others.

i can see, I have to choose my word carefully.......The reason way I would not go with the original carburator is that it is very difficult to get my hands on one of those here in Denmark.
I would love to have an original, Linkert M... right?

Right now I have the following to choose from:

- Super E
- 38 mm quicksilver, w.out acc pump
- HD CV

Which one should I go with, keeping in mind that it is a 61"

The HD CV 40 is easy to get & there is an adaptor on ebay for about $25 or $ 30 that will fit your S&S manifold.Look up past posts ,there is a lot on the subject.Here is a photo of one, on one of my Pans .



Very good carb , starting & performance are just great.
