GAS EVAPORATION

I need a litle insight,because of a serious health issue , my 1949 Panhead sat for over a year with out being touched.I am healthy again and I see that any gas that was in the tank has completelt disappeared. I don't believe that there was any stabalizer in tanks, so what am I facing as far as the carb being gummed up.I haven't even kicked it yet, just wondering...TC

The odds are that your carb needs some attention. However, you need to tell us what type of carb you have, did you turn the petcock off, did you look to see if there is any gas in your float bowl, and did you just shut your bike off and leave it like that without doing anything?

Most likely you will have to disassemble your carburetor and clean it. Modern gas has the tendency to really leave a residue on parts that needs to be cleaned. Although, you might want to just put some gas in the tank and kick it over to see how it runs. Maybe you got lucky and won't need to do anything. Kick it over and let it run for awhile to see how it runs. If it smooths out, you might be good to go.

Fuel was shut off on stock tank and of course there was gas in the stock LINKERT CARB bowl . ...how and what should I do to clean it assuming it is gummed up and won't start? tc

pop the bowl and take a look...
if it looks okay, then put some gas in the tank and slosh around, then dump
put in some more gas and try and start.....
check your points to see if the contacts are clean...

all gas disappearing within a year sounds strange to me.
Did you leave it without the gascaps ?
Check if the engine is not drained, no gas down there ??
