3711,
With a CV you really need to swap your throttle grip spiral, so you are pulling instead of pushing. The CV has a pretty strong return spring on it; too strong for a safe and reliable push type wire set up.
I've set up a CV on a Pan and I ended up just swapping out the push spiral for a pull spiral. More simple!

Another thing you can do on the CV is to do a little bit of re-work on the bracket where your throttle cable attaches. Cut off the bracket end with the ferrule that the throttle cable plugs into (you'll only need a single ferrule, you can cut off and eliminate the ferrule for the return throttle cable), and then weld it back on at a shallower angle so your panhead throttle cable will line up correctly.
Also, if you bend the end of that throttle cable bracket in towards the centerline of carb, it will allow you to mount the CV much closer in towards the motor so the carb doesn't stick out so far out to right.
By doing a little tweaking on that bracket and your intake manifold adapter you can keep your CV tucked in tight and it won't stick out any further than a stock Linkert does.

3711,
I should add that the reason for reworking and putting a slight bend in the CV's throttle cable bracket is to keep the bracket from hitting the back of your front head. The interference of the stock throttle cable bracket and the front head is the reason why you see the CV carb sticking so far out to the right side on most every Panhead/CV conversion bike.

The Harley CV carb on a Pan may not be for the puristas, but it sure does work good if you're looking for better performance and better gas milage.
