how to clean rusty brake drums?

Brake drum mandrel. Got one out of the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket for $ 8.00. << The guy didn't care or know what it was. It is nicely made, it’s made to use the stock hardware to bolt the drum to the mandrel. I’ve never cut one, have no junk to play with, but I’m game. Please don't dump these 5 gallon buckets or milk crates, leave them for me. The old goodies are always at the bottom.

Amen to that!
At a swap meet, I once found 4 complete sets of panhead rocker arms and bearing blocks, each set stored neatly in it's own container, each rocker arm stored in it's own bearing block. That's right FOUR complete sets, all at the bottom of a 5-gal bucket. And what was on top of them? Oh, just the pushrods and pushrod tubes and valve covers.
I bought the whole 5 gallons; best 5-gallon purchase I ever made.
