Front brake help wanted!

Hi guys, I just attempted to put my front end back together after getting new brake shoes. I must be doing something wrong, as the wheel is sitting about 1/4" closer to the non-brake side. The problem seems to be with the wheel cylinder stopping the drum from sitting far enough into the backing plate. I can't work out where I am going wrong, as there really aren't that many parts that I could be going wrong with! The edge of the backing plate is only just lined up with the edge of the drum, and I imagine there should be some small amount of overlap there to prevent debris falling into the drum. In hindsight I should have taken a pic for reference. Another 1/8" of an inch across would solve my centering issue and give enough overlap, so something must be where it isn't meant to be. Nothing seems to be fouling anything else. Has anybody had similar issues before? I've pulled it apart and tried to put it back together 3 times now and am still scratching my head.

Thanks for pointing that out Bob - I meant to refer to the axle sleeve, not wheel cylinder. Blonde moment. The axle sleeve seems to be what's causing me the grief.

Jayson, the Aluminum housing sits tight to the lower leg ( no spacers or washers, just the nut on the other side and nothing in between. The other end of the spacer enters the hub until it hits the stop. Ether you got and after market spacer that screwed up or someone laced that wheel wrong. Pictures Jayson, pictures.
