Brake backing plate spacers on '63 FLH
Hello to all. This is just a curiousity question. On the later hydroglide front ends I've seen some frontends with spacers between the fork leg and the brake backing plate and some without. I don't see the spacers listed in the factory parts book. Two of my Pans have them, one does not. Which would be correct? All three bikes are 2 owner motorcycles. Thanks for any input.

my 65 does not have a spacer between the fork leg and the backing plate. is your wheel dead center ?.. depending on how thick the spacer is I don't think I could get full threads on the axle nut if I used a spacer...you might have wrong backing plate ,or maybe some other miss match,,,is the part #44141-50

On stock Hydra-Glide drum brake forks there is no spacer between the backing plate and the fork leg, only the axle sleeve that retains the backing plate to the leg. The sleeve differs depending on the hub type, with the '67-'72 hub using a different style than '49-'66. But no spacers ever.
