I have just seen this link from another post...there appears to be a pedal on the L/H floorboard attached to a hydraulic- looking contraption just behind the rear sprocket. Anyone have any idea what it's for?

Looks like it goes to what I think is a siren. These pics look familiar, if I recall correctly, this is a police or security bike form somewhere in South America.

The pedal, rod and device are a foot operated siren, when you press on the pedal it pushes the siren shaft against the rotating tire and spins the siren. only works when the bike is rolling. (duh)
Those bikes came out of a dumpster in Saudi Arabia, honest! They were police escort bikes and were tossed in a dumpster and salvaged (rescued). They were set up in a display at Wisconsin Harley-Davidson in Oconomowoc WI for a while and then purchased. All those pictures were taken at the AMCA meet in Davenport a few years ago.
