I just found an original looking shop manual in Adobe format on the web. I'm unsure if I can post the link (if someone knows?). PM me if you'd like to download it and I'll send the link. Some really good information.
Also... Can I use EVO lifter blocks and lifters in my '57? (Only both or just lifters too?)

George I don't know much bout the Evo lifter and lifter block update for a pan or shovel. The lifter block gasket pt #s are the same from 48 through the Evos, so this tells me the Evo blocks should bolt up to the pan cases. Can't say if the spacing between the cam lobes is the same or not. If ya look in the post about "External top end oiler on a 56 pan", you will see a post from caschnd1 which includes a pic of such a set-up. I'm guessin he knows a bunch more than I do bout this....bosheff

Thanks George... Yes, I found the Manual. It was in an area that I hadn't seen. I'm Blind in one eye and can't see out of the other one.
Also found the Blueprints, I wish the numbers were easier to read. Gotta have appreciation for "Draftsmen" prior to ACAD!
I've read through the "External Oilers on....".
Thanks!

Yes you can bolt the EVO lifter blocks to a pan lower,I have them on my project engine however I haven't run them yet.I think that the rod angles might be a little different but I bet they will work well.
